BIRTV 2024: Delivering SLA-Guaranteed Global Real-Time Video Transmission
Simultaneously, at BIRTV 2024 in Beijing, Caton Technology partnered with Grass Valley and Langwei Video to showcase cutting-edge global real-time video transmission technologies that deliver concrete, measurable results.
Caton Technology and Grass Valley jointly demonstrated their achievements in cloud production. Caton successfully encoded five high-definition 1080p50 signals (each at 15Mbps) from Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, transmitting them in real time via Caton Media XStream to Grass Valley's AMPP system deployed on AWS in Hong Kong. Multi-view monitoring and recording were completed on GV AMPP, and the final mixed video was decoded and displayed live at the exhibition site using Caton Media XStream, exemplifying the service's reliability and practical utility.
Caton Media XStream transmission service accomplished ultra-reliable, multi-location, long-distance transmission over a public internet network, using only a 5G router at the exhibition site to manage connections across multiple countries and regions. The result was flawless, underscoring Media XStream's ability to combine reliability with practical convenience.
At another booth, Caton Technology and Langwei Video showcased Caton's flagship product, Caton Prime, a versatile encoder and decoder designed for ultra-high-quality HEVC 4K UHD video. Caton Prime supports both direct Media XStream integration and common transmission protocols such as SRT and UDP, making it an adaptable solution that integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructures. This ensures uninterrupted, high-quality live broadcasts for mission-critical workflows such as sports events and large-scale activities. During the recent Paris Olympics 2024, Caton Prime was used to encode public signals from the IBC in Paris and transmit them back to four television stations in Hong Kong for further production and broadcasting, demonstrating the product's real-world effectiveness.
At BIRTV 2024, Caton also emphasised its commitment to SLA-backed reliability. While public internet-based solutions are traditionally seen as best-effort services unsuitable for critical transmission tasks, Caton's real-world demonstrations showed that its real-time transmission solutions can achieve 99.9999% reliability, making them a dependable choice for crucial live video broadcasting.
